The farm estate La Bandita is located near Petroio, commune of Trequanda, in the province of Siena.
Petroio and Trequanda – together with the other town of the area, Castelmuzio – are small medieval hamlets where time seems to pass more slowly than elsewhere. For this reason, unusually, concrete hasn’t arrived here yet, there are few cars and the environment is practically uncontaminated. Life flows with the sowing, the harvest, grape and olive picking. Alternatively there is handcrafted terracotta.
Estate
The estate consists of 56 hectares, 10,5 of which are vineyard, 1,5 olive grove, 1,5 fruit orchard and 38 woods. Another one and a half hectare of vineyard will be planted with a variety still to be decided.
In February 2008 the estate was converted to organic production and will be fully "organic" by February 2011. |
